ai:ing vs Buffer

Buffer is a scheduler: you write, it posts on time, on many networks. ai:ing drafts the posts, ads and replies itself and waits for your yes. They do different halves of the job.

Buffer's prices and features as of November 7, 2026, from its own pricing pages.

Choose Buffer if you write your own posts, need many networks today, or want a free plan. Choose ai:ing if you want the writing, small ad tests and the counting of sales done for you, and can wait for its Instagram connection to clear Meta's review.

Where Buffer is the better choice

  • You want to write every post yourself and only need it published on time.
  • You post to networks ai:ing doesn't cover, such as X, Threads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Bluesky or Mastodon.
  • You need Instagram or TikTok publishing working today.
  • You want a free plan, or a trial before paying.
  • You want an API and ready integrations such as Canva or Zapier.

Where ai:ing is the better choice

  • You don't want to write: you want drafts in your customers' words, and to approve.
  • You want small ad tests run for you, inside a limit, with losing ads paused.
  • You want to know what each post sold after costs, not how many likes it got.
  • You sell something where wording is regulated, such as cosmetics, food or finance, and want a fixed check before you see a draft.

The cost, worked through

A sample: one brand on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok

Buffer counts three channels: Essentials costs $15 a month billed yearly, $180 a year, AI Assistant included. ai:ing costs €36 a year for the brand, plus what your AI provider bills for its drafts, plus 4% of any ad spend it runs.

They don't do the same work, so the cheaper tool is the one that does the work you need.

Nothing stops you keeping Buffer for the networks ai:ing doesn't post to.
